Vehicle History

The Honda Integra Type R DC2 was launched in Japan in 1995 as the most focused performance version of the third-generation Integra. Developed with an uncompromising emphasis on low weight, response and driver involvement, it was designed to deliver an exceptionally pure driving experience both on the road and on circuit.

At its heart is the legendary naturally aspirated 1.8-litre B18C DOHC VTEC inline-four. In Japanese-market specification it produces 200 PS at 8,000 rpm and 181 Nm of torque, an exceptional specific output for a naturally aspirated production engine of its era.

Power is sent to the front wheels through a close-ratio five-speed manual gearbox and a mechanical limited-slip differential. Combined with a kerb weight of around 1,080 kg, the result is remarkable agility, traction and immediacy.

The B18C is central to the Integra Type R experience. It delivers exceptionally sharp throttle response and thrives at high engine speeds, with Honda extensively reworking the engine to improve breathing, response and durability.

The Type R differed significantly from a standard Integra. The body shell received additional strengthening, the suspension was made stiffer and more focused, and the braking system was upgraded to cope with sustained performance driving.

The interior followed the same philosophy. Weight was reduced wherever possible, while RECARO sports seats, a MOMO steering wheel and titanium gear knob reinforced the car’s competition-inspired character.

Visually, the Championship White paintwork became one of the defining signatures of the Type R, together with its purposeful stance and functional aerodynamic details.

What makes the early JDM Integra Type R particularly special is the purity of its engineering. There is no turbocharging and very little separating the driver from the mechanical components of the car.

Instead, its appeal comes from low weight, precise steering, a highly responsive naturally aspirated engine and one of the finest front-wheel-drive chassis of its generation.

Nearly three decades after its introduction, the Honda Integra Type R DC2 remains a benchmark among front-wheel-drive performance cars. Its combination of the high-revving B18C engine, lightweight construction and uncompromising chassis development has made it one of the most respected Japanese performance cars of the 1990s.

Poznámka: v českém popisu máš 186 Nm, zatímco v technických údajích 181 Nm. Pro JDM B18C Type R bych držel 181 Nm, aby byl web fakticky i interně konzistentní.
